Iceland Wedding: Part 2
Saturday we woke up at our middle of nowhere rental that we barely found by phone light the night before and were greeted with a stunning mountain sunrise. We made our way to breakfast to hash out the rough plans for the day before packing up and setting off. One of our main goals for the day was to find some Icelandic horses! Meghan is a horse girly through and through and we weren’t going to leave this country without an up close and personal horse experience for her. Low and behold, we found a field of horses with a safe place to pull off and trekked over to say hi. These are some of my favorite shots of the whole trip and really captured Meghan’s personality.
Our main plan was to find the natural bridge that we missed the day before while exploring the cliffs at sunset. Along the way we decided to detour by a cool gorge that we were able to hike up into and explore. It took a bit of strategic maneuvering because there was a waterfall running through it but it was a fun challenge and a cool experience. We then made our way to Arnarstapi and found the natural bridge. We waited in the tourist line for our chance to cross it and I flew my drone a bit along the coastline to explore. After grabbing some lunch we parted ways and I headed to the hotel to get some detail shots while they continued to explore a little on their own.
Back at Hotel Budir we geared up for the ceremony rehearsal at the Little Black Chapel followed by a quaint and casual rehearsal dinner/welcome dinner for guests and family. The highlight of the evening was the massive beachside bonfire to welcome everyone to Iceland.
