Iceland Wedding: Part 3
Meghan and Barrett’s chose Iceland as a fun (and not too far to travel to) destination for their wedding. They booked out Hotel Budir for the weekend to celebrate with 24 of their closest friends and family. The wedding weekend celebration kicked off with a rehearsal at Little Black Church followed by a quaint rehearsal dinner and beachside bonfire complete with Icelandic beers and cozy blankets for all the guests.
Wedding day morning, we were all greeted with cold rain and overcast skies but that didn’t dampen the magic of the day. Plans for an outdoor ceremony and first look seemed unlikely but Iceland weather can change rapidly so we crossed our fingers. Meghan got all glammed up overlooking the oceanside lava field and then slipped into her dress with the help of her mother. Barrett was suited up and waiting in the hotel lobby, a quick pin of his boutonniere by his mom and we were set. We had about 20 mins for a first look and some couples portraits before the cold rain returned and we made a swift hustle back to the warmth of Hotel Budir. I brought the cutest clear umbrellas overseas on the off chance we had some rain and not only did they come in handy but they made for the cutest photos of the couple.
The couple had a little downtime to scope out the reception space and warm back up before we all made our way to the Little Black Chapel. The rain again held off and with their friends and family forming an aisle, the two exchanged vows and tied the knot in the rugged landscape of Iceland. We took a few family portraits (including a full guest shot!) and couples shots with the iconic Black Church of Budir in the backdrop. The wedding reception was an intimate arrangement of tables in a U-shaped to give a very family dinner table vibe. The service and food at Hotel Budir was top notch not only for the wedding reception but for the entire weekend. After dinner, the wedding guests all moved to the hotel bar/lounge for drinks, dancing, cake and conversation.
It is hard to put into words how special this wedding weekend was, not only to me as a vendor and friend of the couple but to all the family and friends. The attention to detail, the quality of service was an unmatched experience and it certainly left an impression on me. I fell head over heels for Iceland this weekend and I cannot wait to expand my business to this unique country!
